A little care goes a long way. Follow these simple steps for a cleaner, safer, and more even burn from the first light to the final flicker.
The most important step
Allow the wax to melt completely to the edges of the vessel during the first burn. A full melt pool helps prevent tunneling and encourages a more even burn throughout the life of the candle.
A better burn, every time
Keep these tips handy each time you light your candle.
Trim the wick or wicks to approximately ¼ inch before the first burn and before every burn afterward.
Do not burn your candle for more than four hours at a time. Allow it to cool completely before relighting.
Avoid blowing out the flame. Use a candle snuffer or the dip method to reduce smoke and help keep the wick in good condition.
Keep your candle away from ceiling fans, open windows, and other drafts to encourage an even burn and reduce excessive flickering.
Never move a candle while the flame is lit or the wax is melted. Allow the vessel and wax to cool completely first.
Burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from curtains, paper, and anything else that may catch fire.
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep it safely away from children and pets, and extinguish it before leaving the room.
When your candle is empty, send the vessel back to The Reclaimed Wick and have it filled again with a scent you love.
